Founder of Bloom Flourish Mental Health Counseling, PLLC
Tatiana A. McLean is a Haitian American, compassionate, and dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor with diagnostic privilege (LMHC-D) and the proud owner of Bloom & Flourish Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. As a warm and enthusiastic, bi-lingual Haitian-Creole counselor, Tatiana brings a rich cultural background and deep expertise to her practice. Her identity as an Afro-Caribbean American woman profoundly shapes her counseling approach, offering a unique and insightful perspective that drives her passion for destigmatizing mental health in marginalized communities.

Tatiana works from a cultural competence lens, ensuring that her therapy is inclusive, respectful, and mindful of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of her clients. She deeply understands how cultural, community, and environmental factors influence mental well-being, which enables her to build strong, trusting relationships and tailor her therapeutic approach to meet each client’s specific needs.

With extensive experience counseling clients from diverse backgrounds, including those grappling with racial identity and complex trauma, LGBTQAI+ issues, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and perinatal mental health challenges, Tatiana grounds herself in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She also integrates embodiment techniques, play therapy, Gestalt therapy, and mindfulness into her practice.

-
Embodiment Techniques: Tatiana incorporates embodiment techniques into her therapy to help clients reconnect with their bodies, especially when they’ve experienced trauma. These techniques involve using physical sensations, movement, and awareness of the body to process emotions and trauma. By engaging the body in therapy, clients can develop a deeper understanding of how their emotions are stored physically and can work towards releasing tension, improving self-regulation, and fostering a sense of safety and grounding.

-
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): Tatiana is extensively trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based treatment specifically designed for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT helps young clients process and integrate traumatic experiences, reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. This approach combines traditional CBT with trauma-sensitive interventions, making it a powerful tool for healing.

Perinatal Mental Health: Tatiana is also highly skilled in addressing perinatal mental health, which involves the emotional and psychological well-being of women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She supports women who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges during this critical time. Her approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and designed to help mothers navigate the complexities of perinatal mental health, ensuring they receive the care and support they need.

Tatiana specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, guiding them through personal journeys and helping them increase their understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Known for creating a welcoming, collaborative, and empowering environment, Tatiana ensures that her clients feel safe to express their whole selves, speak their truth, and grow from within.

With her warmth, enthusiasm, humor, and culturally competent approach, Tatiana is committed to helping each client bloom and flourish into the person they aspire to be. Whether you or your child are seeking support, Tatiana looks forward to being a part of your journey to healing and personal growth.
